What gauge speaker wire should I use for my home theater?
mine is 590 Onkyo hts system. 1) What is the best indicator for reproduction audio and where I can buy 2), monster really worth the price or acoustic research cable is as good as monster? 3) significant differences also tehran is between 10, 12, 16 gauge wires?
Cables caliber are important only for the speakers held under low (below 100 Hz). It also depends the time the cable span is. You do not have to use special speaker cable, electric lamp cord will work fine. The main reason to go to cables designed Speaker is that they are "polarized" (one of wlres is marked by the cable) so you can maintain the correct polarity when connecting the speakers to the amplifier (from red to red, black to black, for example). It's hard to say without a wire ohmmeter is connected to that unless the cables are marked. Go to your hardware Local or Home Depot. It has polarized speaker wire in various sizes. Main front speakers to no more than 15 feet from the amplifier. 16 gauge is sufficient. to passive subwoofer, use 14 gauge or if the cable is longer than 15 feet, use 12-gauge subs (do not use powered speaker cable). For surround speakers and center-channel, 16 gauge is more than adequate to any length. Get the less expensive cable that will work.
