What is the best in roof-5.1 home theater system installed can I buy under $ 1,000?
My new condo is pre-wired for surround sound 5.1. I'm waiting to buy ceiling speakers, center speaker in the ceiling, a subwoofer and receiver. My room is quite small (approximately 18 feet by 16 feet). I want something that sounds good but is quite low (less than $ 1k) including installation. I guess the installation would cost less for me because I'm pre-wiring for the system. What brand of system should look for and where should I look to buy it. I live in Sacramento, CA. if that helps. If $ 1,000 is impossible keeps it below $ 1,400.
On the ceiling / wall speaker is the worst way to go. The wall or ceiling takes the place of the wooden box as the casing of the speakers. The problem is that the wall and ceiling cavities are not uniform and end with each speaker that sounds different. The center speaker (voice / dialogue) should be as close to the TV, either above or below, not the ceiling of a realistic sound. Imagine you're talking to someone and their voice comes from the ceiling. Not Half a little bit weird? its budget will go to the installation, if I had to do it for you (assuming the pre-wiring is done correctly. I had to redo the wiring in many homes pre-wired sometimes not even funny.) I say if because economic systems installation and not install on ceilings or walls. No way to make it sound good and would like making sure you end up with an unhappy customer. I used to ask for $ 1000 when someone called me to give one of those until someone actually agree at my price. Now I say NO. Double your budget ($ 2,000) and you can get a decent set of speakers, if you go to your local extreme "high" of the shop. And if the place is pre-wired correctly, you can install yourself.
