Flat Panel Televisions?
I am researching flat-screen televisions and so far I've been using the following web sites as references: Consumer Reports CNET and Consumer Research. I wonder if some of you "techies" might be willing to share other websites of confidence in me, so I can not do more research. I am only interested in the overall rating, but I am interested in information about quality and longevity of LCD's, DLP, Plasma, etc. Thanks for your help.
You're looking at 3 totally different technologies. LCD and plasma half-life average 50,000 hours (use of life capable). The DLP uses a high intensity lamp for the projection and the bulb should last 2-5 years, and is easily replaced (about $ 150). The DLP is a great way to go if you want a larger screen 55-71 "for LCD and Plasma in these larger sizes are much more expensive, you can get a Nice 61" DLP for $ 2000, comparably sized plasma will be $ 5000 so I recommend to get a broader DLP. If you look at 32-50 "Plasma or LCD I looked at both have ups and downs. Plasma by usually has deeper blacks and handles fast action better. LCD puts less heat and uses less electricity and have less glare on the screen. DLP and LCD and I'm very happy with both.
