What are your thoughts on a large flat Panal TV in front of a HD projector?
IM planning to convert the basement into a home theater, and i just cannot decide between the two. money is a factor, but not necessarily have to be more important than quality. i will use a 7.1 surround sound paired with some of the tallest tower speakers and matched surrounding tonality. If I choose the projector, Ill be using a tower for my channal center, behind the screen. If I choose the flat Panal, Ill be using a mainstream speaker channal both above and below the screen. people will be sitting about 8-14 feet from the screen and not more than 30 degrees off center.
Choice – in my opinion is a no brainer – but then I use the experience immersion of a large screen (8 "-10") projector setup on any day through any flat screen financially viable. From the sound of it has room for a projector, light control is not possible that the problem (projectors are commonly used in a dark room dark), and the cost a projector is smaller than a flat screen of comparable quality. The questions you need to ask and answer for himself is whether the $ 300 – $ 400 for a bulb every 2-3 years is a concern (lifetime is typically ~ 3000 hours, and usually only weak slowly instead of burning), if you have the space and lines adequate visibility for the screen, as / where to mount the projector and the cable to the A / V equipment, not enough space for the number of people who want to come and see! no know why the flat screens are so popular and anyone who says that a projector offers an image of low quality, obviously never seen a projector prpoerly created. But then, that probably did not realize that they are probably looking at a projector when they go to the movies! So … make your Reasearch in projectorcentral.com and projectorreviews.com, and go for it … not regret the decision.
