Home Theater Room Layout
home theater room design help?

There is a spare room in my house that was built as an attachment and want to use it as a dedicated home theater. The ceiling is angled, ceiling and wall higher (w / horiz.) Is 8 feet tall and the front wall is 7 feet tall. My question is, should I place the wall screen (60 "diag.) On? I ask this because the sloping roof proabably affect sound quality. by the way the room is 14'x14 '

The impact of sound is lower with a difference of 1 foot. I'd be more interested in the room access (Gate) furniture and lighting from windows. A downhill the screen is visually a better perspective and ensure that light sources do not go to the brightness of the screen are concerns. There are different expectations in the sound of a system Film is not planning to include in a multy-channel system for movies or looking for a room with acoustic tiles and sound damping on the walls like a recording studio! Simple things can make a big room sound. Do not be fooled to buy expensive equipment or speakers that make your crack walls. Good sound for movies is a clear sound (listen to the broken windows, made the birds fly behind you!) The location of the speaker is important and usually can work in any layout. Just remember submarines can go anywhere, Surround speakers are better a few feet behind their chairs and at ear level. The center speaker should be as near the center of the screen as possible (unles you like to listen to people talk about your feet!) The main speakers are the best Balanced on both sides of the screen. All speakers should be in a kind of rubber feet that do not rattle. Wire is verry important too, use the largest gauge wire can afford. If the walls are bare and painted with textured materials where possible try to cover, movies sound better when the walls and ceiling instead of absorbing reflect sound. Reflecting sound like an echo in your ear. Hope this helps and enjoy your new theater.
