Home Theater Speaker Installation
The best type of speaker cable for installation on the wall of wire?

During the summer we'll finish our basement (at least partially) and I like to convey our Home Theater (5.1 surround sound setup + Buying a new HDTV) to the end room in the basement. For cosmetic purposes, that we would conduct our cables surround speakers through the walls. I wondered what kind of Speaker Wire should I buy? I've been reading online and I see a lot of recommendation for the 16-gauge, some 14-guage / 2, do not really know what those numbers mean (except the lower the number the thicker the wire) and do not know what size wire is best for the wiring of the wall. Also, the subject is marked for Speaker Wire? If so, what brand names could recommend? THX certification is something to aspire to? It does not really have the best quality sound system, but I definitely want to leave room / building (the least in terms of wiring) to upgrade the speakers in the future. Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

16 or 14 gauge thickness refer Infact the wire. The more power (wattage) that are delivered through speakers heavier gauge wire to use. (14g is thicker than 16g). The 2 in 16 / 2 or 14 / 2 refers to the number of drivers that are inside the plastic wrap. So 16 / 2 is 2 gauge wires 16 in the jacket. I been running speaker wire for various uses, for 15 years this is my advice. Yes, the quality of the affairs of wire, which can hear the difference. If you are someone listening to his system a lot, you hear a difference. If you are a casual listener then you can not hear the difference. I can hear the difference. Personally choose wire mark Monster for home theaters. If you do not want to spend money on the look "Belden" wire or "Genesis" wire. These are the brands I like least. For the love of Pete, do not buy WIRE RADIO SHACK! Or really anything Radio Shack brand, consider yourself warned. Regarding the selection indicator. I found that 16 grams is well for runs of less than 50 'and are leading to 100W or less power. (His career average with the typical theater receiver / amplifier) If you will use more energy I would recommend 150W + 14g wire.
