How can I connect all that to get the best image and sound?
Actually this is what I have: Toshiba 52HM95-TV standard Kenwood HTB-707DV 6.1-Channel Home Theater System, a v / satellite receiver DirecTV HD receiver Kenwood CD / DVD. How do I connect this for Dolby Digital sound. All you get now is Pro-Logic. I have all the cables may need to connect (component, HDMI, Toslink, digital coax) Please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It seems as if the receiver does component video switching. You have some options here: First, I connect the component from the receiver to your TV. Now here is where you have a choice. If the DirecTV box has HDMI output, you can directly connect it via HDMI to the TV. Then you use the digital coaxial out on the TV and plugging in the receiver. This will get the sound of the TV or you can use your receiver. The other option would connect through the use component and coaxial or optical digital (no matter) out of the receiver. You may also want to run the stereo cable from it to the TV or run from the receiver to not have to use the receiver, this is of course assuming that the receiver is not used all the time.
