Is it OK to connect my playstation 3 to my Samsung plasma TV?

I heard that it breaks the TV and my father would let me do it. Can someone help me?

Your dad is right. The problem is called image retention, also called burn in. This happens with video games and PC users in images that do not move or change the room on the screen for hours at a time. In video games things like health bars, meters and as they move. After several hours, the image can be pasted on the screen and you can see the faint image and it will not go away. Short play sessions should be fine, but it remains a risk. The most recent plasma in 2008 and 2009 are very resilient, and if you are good to take a break once an hour to change to standard TV for a few minutes is probably right. But if I had children, would trust them to do these things to take care of the plasma? NO! I have a plasma, I like the picture over LCD, but not I'd bet on it. My plasma is from 2004, they burn very easily. You have to go LCD if you plan on playing for long periods of time.
