Sony Home Theater System Watt
My new 400 watt Sony "Home Theater" audio system makes a loud buzzing when. How can I avoid this?

It is necessary isolate what could be causing the noise. Delete all entries, and run the HT without anything (including cable TV or cable provider) connected to it. Still hum? If so, has a bad drive, take back and change. If it is quiet, starting to connect things one at a time and see what is causing it to start ringing. If a cable as Comcast, which is causing it, you can build an isolation transformer for 75-300 and reverse put two together Baluns 300-75. Remember that the volume down when you connect any thing. If it is a specific unit that is causing the buzz, the reasons for testing, etc.. Once he bought a TV that was causing a buzz horrible. I noticed that a spark to unplug the audio cable, and through checks with VOM meters, had 70 + volts differential on the ground. It is that television was connected backwards! Chassis ground was hot. A second TV had the same problem, and the television company denied that this could have happened. I went second and got a different brand of TV, but it shows that sometimes even the manufacturers of the leg. I had built a "trap" cap that reverses the polarity of CA, and that solved the problem, but I would not allow that to be a permanent solution. So – a lot of things can cause hum, just to be a detective and figure out what causes yours!
