Home Theater Subwoofer placement?

My entire system is inside a cupboard on the wall. I have two choices for active subwoofer – (1) to place it on the floor outside the cabinet. This requires a cable to be pulled out of the closet and does not look good. (2) to put on top of the box against the wall. This is much better, but it does compromise the bass, but it comes from above and not the floor?

Well, no, subwoofer placement is almost as important as other speakers because the bass is not directional, but the general pattern is the first test by putting the sub where you hear from then put your ear in which they are thinking of putting the submarine. If the sound loud and full, it's okay to put the sub there. There is no theoretical reason not to put the sub aloft (though the practice is to bring about a limit of two walls or a wall and floor, as it improves) low. In a nutshell … Try (and use the trick I described). Moreover, if the location prefer not to work well, should not be too difficult to hide the cable when putting the sub elsewhere in the room. Home Depot (and others) have plastic channel that sticks to the motherboard (for example) and include the wire. I used it in my HT and one must look closely to notice.
