Air Surround Home Theater Speaker System?

I am looking to buy a home surround sound for my living room. I came across an air envelope yamaha home theater system. It has a central unit and a subwoofer. It claims that this will create a surround sound like a system of multiple speakers. Do not want to ride walls, so it looks great, but what really do the trick? You're right – the large central speaker trying to take the place of five speakers really need the placement of central wall and un-broken walls and a rear side of the wall to work.
